General

What is Save My Gold?

Save My Gold is a service, being prepared for launch, that lets you buy gold from SMG in small or large amounts, keep a documented record of what you own, and sell eligible gold back to SMG for a bank payout.

Who operates Save My Gold?

Save My Gold is operated by SMG Horizon Services Private Limited, a private limited company incorporated on 15 July 2026 with its registered office in Ernakulam, Kerala (CIN U82300KL2026PTC104727, GSTIN 32ABUCS3875M1ZH). SMG is the seller for every purchase and the buyer in every sell-back. Full details are on our merchant information page.

Is this a bank deposit, savings scheme or investment with returns?

No. You are buying gold. It is not a deposit, fixed deposit, chit, savings scheme or investment plan. It earns no interest, carries no guaranteed return, and is not insured by the DICGC. Its value goes up and down with gold prices.

Is digital gold regulated by SEBI or the RBI?

Digital gold is not a security regulated by SEBI, and it is not a deposit regulated by the RBI. SMG will comply with the laws that apply to its business, such as consumer protection, GST, KYC/anti-money-laundering and data protection law. Our legal counsel is reviewing which specific obligations apply. Please read the risk disclosure.

Can I buy gold today?

Not yet. Save My Gold is opening soon. Coin orders and digital gold purchases will open once our supplier, custody, legal, tax and payment arrangements are complete. We'll announce it on this website.

Who can use Save My Gold?

The service is intended for individuals resident in India, aged 18 or over, who complete identity verification and hold an Indian bank account in their own name. Final eligibility rules will be set out in the terms and conditions.

Gold coins

What's the difference between gold coins and digital gold?

A gold coin is physical gold delivered to you, and its price includes a making charge and shipping. Digital gold is physical gold held in custody for you, with no making charge; you can buy it in small amounts and sell it back to us. See the comparison.

Which gold coins do you sell?

Coins in 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10 grams, bearing the SMG Horizon emblem. Purity, minting and packaging details will be listed on each coin before orders open.

How is a coin priced?

Coin weight × the day's gold rate, plus making charges, GST and shipping. Every line is shown before you pay. More on coin pricing.

Where and how are coins delivered?

By a secure courier with tracking, handed over only to you after an identity check. Delivery areas: To be published. Timeline: To be published. See our shipping & delivery policy.

What if my parcel arrives opened or damaged?

Please don't accept it. Contact support straight away with your order number and we'll take it up with the courier. The full process is in our refund & cancellation policy.

Can I sell gold coins back to SMG?

We're finalising a buyback option for physical coins, including how returned coins are checked. Details will be published before coin orders open.

Buying digital gold

How is the purchase price set?

The purchase rate is based on a disclosed reference rate plus SMG's spread. Every quote shows the rate per gram, the weight, GST, any platform fee and the total, along with a timestamp and expiry. The rate source will be named on the pricing page once confirmed.

Why is the buyback price lower than the purchase price?

Like any gold dealer, SMG sells at one rate and buys back at a lower rate. The difference, called the spread, covers procurement, custody and operating costs. Because of the spread and non-recoverable GST, selling soon after buying will usually return less than you paid.

How much GST will I pay?

GST is charged as applicable on gold purchases and shown separately on the quote and invoice. It is currently 3% on gold. The exact tax treatment, including for sell-backs, is being confirmed with our chartered accountant.

Is there a minimum or maximum purchase?

Yes, there will be limits, but they are not final yet. Minimum: To be published. Maximum: To be published. Higher amounts may require additional verification.

What happens if my quote expires before I pay?

You will need a fresh quote at the current rate. If a payment arrives after a quote has expired, SMG will either honour a new quote you accept or refund the payment under the refund policy; it will not silently apply a different price.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes. Each completed (allocated) purchase will have a tax invoice issued by SMG Horizon Services Private Limited in your name, downloadable in the app.

What purity of gold will I buy?

Purity will be confirmed in the supply agreement and shown on every quote and invoice. Current status: To be published.

Ownership & custody

Do I actually own the gold I buy?

That is the intent. Once gold is allocated to your paid order, it is recorded as yours, evidenced by your invoice and allocation reference. The precise legal mechanism of title transfer, especially for fractional quantities held in a pooled vault, is being finalised with legal counsel and will be set out in the terms.

Is every gram backed by physical gold?

The service is designed so that customer holdings are created only after physical gold is confirmed from inventory or procured from our supplier, and holdings are reconciled against the physical stock. Purchases will not open until sourcing and custody are contracted.

Who supplies the gold?

SMG buys physical gold under a written supply agreement with Malabar Gold & Diamonds.

Where is my gold stored?

Custody arrangements are being finalised. Custodian: SMG Horizon Services Private Limited. Details will be published on the gold custody page before purchases open.

What happens to my gold if SMG becomes insolvent?

The aim is to hold customer gold in a structure that keeps it separate from SMG's own assets, so it can be returned to customers. Whether that protection applies depends on custody and trust contracts that are not yet final. We will publish legal counsel's summary of the position on the custody page; until then, we make no claim that customer gold is protected in insolvency.

Can I convert my digital gold into coins?

Not at the moment. If you want physical gold, you can buy gold coins directly. Converting digital holdings into coins may be offered later, and we'll publish the terms first.

Sell-back

How do I sell my gold back?

In the app, choose the eligible grams to sell, review the buyback quote and accept it within its validity window. Title passes to SMG and the payout is sent to your verified bank account. See how sell-back works.

Will I get back at least what I paid?

Not necessarily. You receive the buyback rate on the day you sell, which depends on gold prices and is lower than the purchase rate. GST paid at purchase is not returned. You may receive more or less than you paid.

How long does a payout take?

Payout timeline: To be published. Bank holidays, failed account validation or compliance checks can cause delays. You will see the payout status in the app.

Which bank account will I be paid into?

Only an Indian bank account in your own name that has been verified in your Save My Gold account. Payouts are not made to third parties, wallets or in cash.

What if my payout fails?

If the bank rejects a payout (for example because an account is closed), the amount remains owed to you. We will notify you, ask you to verify a valid account and re-send the payout. The gold you sold is not returned to your holdings, because the sale at the agreed price has already been completed.

Is a sell-back the same as a refund?

No. A sell-back is a new sale of your gold to SMG at the current buyback rate. A refund only happens when a purchase was never completed, for example if payment succeeded but gold could not be allocated.

Payments & refunds

How will I pay?

Through the hosted checkout of an approved payment gateway, using methods such as UPI, cards or net banking. No payment gateway has approved SMG yet, so we do not list any provider. SMG will never collect card numbers, CVV or UPI PINs directly.

My payment failed but money was debited. What should I do?

Usually the bank or gateway reverses a failed payment automatically. If SMG did receive the money but no order was created, it will be refunded. If you don't see the reversal in a few working days, contact support with your transaction reference.

I was charged twice. Will I get the extra payment back?

Yes. A duplicate payment for the same order is refunded to the original payment method once identified. You can also report it to support with both transaction references.

Can I cancel a purchase after gold is allocated?

Once gold is allocated, the purchase is complete. How cancellations after allocation will be handled is being reviewed by legal counsel and will be stated in the final refund & cancellation policy. You can always sell eligible gold back at the buyback rate.

Do I pay tax when I sell gold?

Gains on selling gold may be taxable under income-tax law, depending on how long you held it and your circumstances. SMG does not give tax advice; please consult a tax adviser. Payout records in the app can help with your tax filing.

Security & support

Will SMG ever ask for my OTP, UPI PIN, CVV or password?

Never. No genuine SMG employee, message or app screen will ask for these. If someone does, it is a fraud attempt; do not share anything and report it to us.

How is my personal data protected?

We collect only what is needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, use encryption in transit, limit access internally and use vetted service providers. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I find the genuine Save My Gold app?

The app is not yet published. Official store links will be listed only on the Save My Gold page of this website. Do not install apps from links sent by message.

How do I report fraud or unauthorised activity?

Contact support immediately with details. For unauthorised payments, also inform your bank. You can report cyber fraud to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or helpline 1930.

How do I raise a complaint?

Start with customer support. If you are not satisfied, escalate to our grievance officer as described on the grievance redressal page.
