Sell gold
Sell your gold back at a rate you can see
Ask for a buyback quote, accept it, and we pay your verified bank account. What you receive depends on the buyback rate that day, not on what you originally paid.
How selling back works
For digital gold held with us. Buyback of physical coins is being finalised.
- 1
Choose the grams to sell
Any allocated gold that isn't on hold, for example for a pending verification or dispute.
- 2
See the quote
The buyback rate per gram, any charges, and the amount you'll receive.
- 3
Accept within the time shown
If the quote expires, you'll get a new one at the current rate.
- 4
The gold passes back to SMG
Those grams leave your holdings once you accept.
- 5
We pay your bank
To your verified account in your own name. Payout time: To be published.
Worked example
Why you may get back less than you paid
Continuing the digital gold example. Hypothetical rates, not a live price.
- Gold held
- 0.100 g
- Originally paid (including ₹30 GST)
- ₹1,030.00
- Buyback rate on the day you sell
- ₹9,700.00 per gram
- Paid to your bank (0.100 g × ₹9,700)
- ₹970.00
Here you'd receive ₹60 less than you paid, because of the buy–sell spread and the GST that isn't returned. If gold prices rise enough, you could receive more. Nothing is guaranteed.
Good to know
The spread
The buyback rate is lower than the purchase rate. The difference is shown on every quote and on our pricing page.
Prices move
The amount is fixed only when you accept a valid quote.
Verification
We pay only a bank account in your own name, and may run checks before paying out. See our KYC policy.
Delays
Bank holidays or failed account checks can delay a payout. The money stays owed to you until it's paid.
Selling back isn't a refund. It's a new sale from you to SMG at that day's buyback rate. Refunds apply only to orders we couldn't complete; see our refund policy. Full terms are in our gold sell-back policy.
